Biography
John Flores began playing electric bass in 1982.
With his brothers, Mario and Stefan, he formed the band 'Titan Force'.
The band released 2 CD's and toured in Europe in 1993.
In 1998 he purchased an upright acoustic bass.
Less than 9 months later he recorded a live CD in Denver, Colorado
on KUVO radio with
Jacob Herold. Since then he has recorded and
performed with scores of musicians in Southern Colorado, including
Brad Eastin, Bruce Pennington, Bobby Montoya, Sam Pannunzio, Laura Davis,
Ray
Dewitt, Marv Smith, Magic
Dave Therault, Smokin' Joe Sciallo, Lila Mori,
Eddie Jones, Brenda
Miles, Carlos Crull, Wallace Cotton, Me and
Julio,
Brad Bietry,
Mike Nelson, Barry
Wedgle, Alan Joseph, Jana Lee, Big Cat Band,
Geoff Cleveland, Keith Oxman, and most
recently, with Michael Howell
(guitarist and alumnus of Dizzy Gillespie's band), Horace Young,
and three time Grammy Award winning vocalist Diane
Reeves.
He just completed a live recording with Carl Dixon
soon to be released on CD and DVD.
In 2002, John performed at three music festivals
in three different styles within three weeks;
Titan Force returned to Europe in June to play the
"Bang Your Head" festival in Balingen, Germany.
Immediately on his return to the United States,
John led his own quartet (featuring Sam Pannunzio,
Mark Rose, and his brother, Stefan Flores) at the
Colorado Springs Jazz
Festival.
He then performed with Pueblo native, Mo Kauffey
at the Colorado Springs Blues festival.
Currently attending CSU-Pueblo pursuing a Music Education K-12 degree,
John remains one of southern Colorado's busiest bass players
averaging 150 gigs per year in styles ranging from jazz, classical,
rock, R&B, funk, salsa, country, blues, and contemporary
Christian.
He is currently a member of the Bruce Pennington Trio (Jazz),
Mistura Bela (Brazillian), and on the worship ministry staff at
Christ Church of
Colorado Springs.
